About Plate It Forward

Plate It Forward is a Sydney based social enterprise hospitality group and registered charity founded by Shaun Christie David. Built on the belief that food can bring people together and create real change, the organisation uses hospitality as a platform to celebrate culture, create opportunity and strengthen community. Through a growing family of venues including Colombo Social, Kabul Social, Kyiv Social and Kolkata Social, alongside catering and event services, Plate It Forward shares the diverse food, stories and cultures of the communities that make up our teams. But every Plate It Forward venue exists for something bigger than a meal. Our social enterprise model provides paid employment, hands on training and long term career pathways for people facing barriers to work, including those from refugee and migrant backgrounds, justice involved individuals and people living with disability. At the same time, we work to address food insecurity across Sydney, producing and distributing up to 2,500 meals each week to community members in need. The idea is simple. Great food can do great things. When guests dine with us, host events or order catering, they help fund meals, training and employment pathways for people rebuilding their lives, creating equal opportunity around the table, one plate at a time.
