About Platform1

Platform1Ⓡ is dedicated to ethical and privacy-focused License Plate Recognition (LPR) software solutions, headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa. Founded by a former SAPS Reservist, our company addresses the critical need for responsible LPR technology deployment in crime prevention amidst growing concerns over data misuse in South Africa. In the South African context, the initial promise of LPR technology was overshadowed by unregulated data access and misuse. Platform1Ⓡ emerged to redefine this narrative, advocating for the lawful and ethical use of LPR data strictly for crime-fighting purposes. We prioritise stringent data access controls, ensuring that data ownership remains with our clients and is never mined, commercialised, or sold. Platform1Ⓡ provides leading-edge, cloud-based LPR software and comprehensive service offerings to diverse clients, including individuals, Neighborhood Watches (NHWs), Community Improvement Districts (CIDs), Municipalities, and Multinationals. From software-only solutions to fully managed area-wide LPR operations, our expertise ensures that LPR data is safeguarded while being used responsibly. Our pioneering software is a proven smart policing tool, used daily in collaboration with national and metro law enforcement. Our crime-fighting successes significantly impact public safety while upholding our core values of protecting public privacy and ensuring the ethical use of vehicle-related information. What sets Platform1Ⓡ apart is our unwavering commitment to data security and privacy. We adhere rigorously to legislation such as POPIA and exceed industry standards, ensuring that every use of LPR technology enhances public safety without compromising individual privacy rights. All data is stored locally in South Africa, adhering to stringent privacy regulations and maintaining high standards of operational security. Join us in harnessing technology for crime prevention while upholding the highest ethical standards.
