About Police Governance Ontario

Formerly the Ontario Association of Police Services Boards (OAPSB), PGO supports municipal police services boards, First Nations police services boards, and Ontario Provincial Police detachment boards through practical tools, education, and governance insight. Our role is not oversight or regulation. We focus on governance intelligence, the “how” of effective civilian governance. We provide boards with the structure, clarity, and resources needed to move beyond compliance and strengthen accountability, transparency, and public trust. Our work includes: Governance tools, templates, and practical guidance Education, training, and ongoing learning opportunities Governance Insights that surface trends, challenges, and emerging expectations Conferences, discussion groups, and sector engagement PGO works alongside policing partners, government, and sector organizations to support strong, modern governance aligned with Ontario’s legislative framework.
