About Port of Kokkola

THE PORT OF THREE PORTS Central location. Well connected. 14 m deep fairway. Port of Kokkola handles break bulk, bulk, containers, wind turbine components and project cargo across three separate port areas, each with a distinct role. Together they form one of Finland's largest port complexes by total tonnage. General Port is home to Europe's largest and the Nordic countries' only All Weather Terminal (AWT). The AWT, together with its loading areas and storage facilities, handles break bulk under cover, in dry conditions, regardless of weather. Most of the break bulk moving through here is sawn timber, zinc, and big bags. The port also has a dedicated terminal for light bulk, including limestone and fertiliser raw materials, equipped with rail wagon unloading systems and conveyors. Deep Port runs on dark bulk. It accounts for over 70% of total port tonnage and, at 60 hectares with a 1.3-kilometre quay, it sets the scale here. Dark and light bulk are kept strictly separate across the port. Silverstone Port handles containers, following the installation of a new gantry crane, one of the largest in Finland, which more than doubled the port's container capacity. Three port areas. One port.
