About Purple Elephant in the Room

Purple Elephant in the Room was founded in 2013 to better support families who were falling through the cracks of standard intervention services. We provide independent family support services and social work assessments for local authorities, courts, solicitors and private clients across the South West. Purple Elephant in the Room's aim is, wherever possible, to keep families together by providing an individual approach to assessment, observation, support and intervention. We support children, parents and carers individually and as a whole family to address practical, emotional and behavioural barriers that may prevent families remaining together. We build on families' strengths whilst helping them address their needs. The purpose of all the services provided by Purple Elephant in the Room is to make a positive difference to the lives of children and their families. Purple Elephant in the Room deliver a number of free and low costs services to better support the communities that we work within. Our team of social workers, family support workers, and therapeutic team have extensive experience working with parents and children who have multiple complex needs; learning disabilities, mental health issues, domestic abuse, drug and alcohol misuse, children with behavioural problems and other difficulties. We support local authorities, schools, health services and other organisations with bespoke support packages and services. We are often instructed to support parents and safeguard children in their homes 24/7 during court proceedings.
