About Ready and Forward

Ready & Forward is a national service-driven organization advancing unity, stewardship, and long-term community impact through the responsible restoration and activation of historically significant places. Our work began with Historic Camp Lockett in East County San Diego — the former training grounds of the 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers. We are committed to honoring the site’s legacy while building partnerships and programming models that ensure its history remains active, relevant, and purposefully engaged for future generations. Ready & Forward operates through a dual-entity structure: Ready & Forward, Inc. (501(c)(6)) serves as the coordinating and activation arm — focused on stewardship initiatives, public engagement, partnerships, events, and sustainable economic models. Ready & Forward Foundation (501(c)(3)) supports charitable programming, education, wellness initiatives, historic preservation efforts, and tax-deductible philanthropic contributions. Legacy Fest is our flagship public activation aligned with America’s 250th Anniversary and the U.S. Army’s 250th Birthday. Hosted in the Campo/Boulevard region of San Diego County, the event honors Indigenous stewardship of the land, the 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers, women in service, military families, and first responders. Legacy Fest brings together history, music, service, wellness, and civic engagement to create a unifying cultural experience rooted in responsibility, renewal, and shared purpose.
