About RESET Network - Solutions for South-Led Just Energy Transitions
The RESET Network brings together researchers and decision-makers across the Global South to accelerate just energy transitions tailored to local circumstances. What we do: We foster collaboration and knowledge exchange that drive meaningful change in energy transition. Our work focuses on: - Developing economic and policy solutions grounded in local contexts - Building technical capacity through energy system modelling and open-source tools - Connecting local researchers with decision-makers to bridge the research-to-policy gap - Evaluating emissions pricing instruments and integrated policy approaches - Creating dialogue spaces for shared learning, innovation, and leadership Why it matters: Decarbonising energy production in the Global South is essential to avoiding dangerous climate change, yet these countries receive only 20% of global clean energy investment. Current energy planning often lacks the transparent, locally-driven research needed to unlock this potential. We believe countries across the Global South need trusted local experts who understand their unique conditions and can help translate research into effective policy and investment decisions. Our approach: As a network of independent researchers, we don't lobby for specific pathways. Instead, we provide impartial, evidence-based advice that respects local autonomy whilst building collective capability. Our work evolved from the Multi-Country Energy Transitions (MCET) Network and Climate Action Teams, and is coordinated by the Environmental Defense Fund.
