Describing an atmosphere or event that is lively and festive, involving joyous indulgence and spirited celebration while also being marked by a sense of vigilance and careful oversight for the safety and well-being of participants. It is characterized by a combination of exuberance and watchfulness, where an event or activity includes both joyous revelry and a mindful approach to maintaining order and security. Origin 1. French. "to revel" and "revelry" are derived from Old French (reveler) and Latin (rebellare), which encompass the ideas of celebration and festivity. The concept of "revigilare" (meaning "to watch over" or "to be vigilant") aligns with the idea of careful oversight.
