About Rewrite the BiLine

Rewrite the BiLine aims to rewrite the narrative on bi+ people and non-nuclear families in film, television, and the media through consulting, public education, and investment in bi+ leaders in order to create lasting social and political change. Although bi+ people make up the majority of the LGBTQ+ community, our stories are consistently overlooked on screen and on stage. When bi+ characters do appear, they are too often reduced to harmful stereotypes. These portrayals fuel stigma that extends beyond media, contributing to real-world discrimination, erasure, and inequality. Bi+ people face higher rates of poverty, are paid less on average, and experience alarming levels of sexual violence compared to gay, lesbian, and straight people. We believe meaningful visibility on screen, on stage, and throughout society requires intentional, sustained action. That’s why our diverse and growing movement collaborates with creators, institutions, and civic leaders to reshape both the stories we tell and the systems that affect bi+ people and non-nuclear families. Rewrite the BiLine operates as a hybrid social enterprise. We are a women- and LGBTQ-owned business with a charitable arm fiscally sponsored by Social Good Fund, a California nonprofit corporation and registered 501(c)(3) organization, Tax ID (EIN) 46-1323531. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
