By combining independent legal investigation with real-time payroll verification, SafeRec provides a framework for assessing umbrella company tax compliance. Alongside certification, the SafeRec platform gives recruitment agencies visibility of certified providers and tools to support supply chain oversight. SafeRec Certification The SafeRec Certification for Umbrella Companies combines independent legal investigation with real-time payroll auditing to assess legal, operational and tax compliance. Independent Legal Assessment Each umbrella company undergoes an independent legal investigation conducted by WTT, a law firm specialised in tax investigations. This review examines the umbrella’s operating model, contractual structures, processes and policies and produces a written compliance report describing how the business operates in practice. Real-Time Payroll Verification SafeRec technology performs forensic auditing of payslips, cross-referencing payroll data against HMRC Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to ensure payroll aligns with submissions to HMRC. We then verify that taxes have been paid to HMRC.
