About Safety Equipment Institute

For over 40 years, the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) has served as one of the world's leading independent third-party certification program providers. An affiliate of ASTM International, SEI is the organization hundreds of top companies turn to for their product certification needs. SEI works with government agencies, standards development organizations, governing bodies, and manufacturers to accomplish one common goal to provide industrial workers, firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, athletes, and the general public with certified, trusted safety equipment. Using the most recognized, comprehensive safety standards in the world, SEI administers third-party certification programs and tests for public safety. We certify a broad range of safety and protective products that are used both occupationally and recreationally. SEI certification programs are open to all manufacturers of safety and protective equipment. SEI believes that it is vital that its certification services be impartial and objective, uninfluenced by private interests of individuals acting for SEI. New certification programs are created based on sufficient interest from industry.
