Sail Beyond Cancer Newport honors, celebrates, and supports people who are living with cancer by giving them the opportunity to step away from the routines, fears, and stresses that come with a cancer diagnosis — and experience the profound healing power of sailing on the waters of Narragansett Bay. Our mission is simple yet life-changing: To harness the wind, water, and compassion of our community to create moments of peace, joy, and connection for individuals and families facing cancer. Sailing offers a rare kind of respite — a chance to breathe more deeply, feel the sun and salt air, and reconnect with loved ones in a setting that restores hope and courage. As one of our guiding beliefs says: “We need to engage and find ways to support those among us who need and benefit from every moment that allows them to step away from the fears and stresses that cancer presents daily.” Each mission sail is provided completely free of charge, thanks to our extraordinary volunteer captains, crew, board members, and community partners. These generous and highly skilled volunteers donate their time, their vessels, and their hearts to make every sail possible. As part of the Sail Beyond Cancer USA family, the Newport chapter proudly serves the greater Narragansett Bay region, delivering compassionate, uplifting experiences — one sail at a time.
