About Santa Barbara Women Lawyers

OUR MISSION: 1) To promote the diverse interests of women lawyers in Santa Barbara: We implement this by strengthening SBWL, developing strategy for promoting highly qualified women to the Bench and increasing the number of women judges and developing educational programs. 2) To promote gender equality: We implement this by watching developments in legislation and keeping members informed, participating in or lending support to amicus briefs on important issues that fall within our mission, and examining the problems of and propose solutions to the internal and external factors which inhibit women in their quest for social and professional equality. 3) To serve the Santa Barbara Community as a whole: We implement this by developing programs to educate and provide role models for young people, coordinating and maintaining liaisons with other women's organizations, and encouraging pro-bono services form women in crisis and/or in need of legal services.
