Established in its current form on 24 October 2017, Saue municipality was created through the merger of the city of Saue and the former rural municipalities of Kernu, Nissi, and Saue. Covering approximately 630 square kilometres, Saue extends from the borders of Tallinn to the serene countryside near Haapsalu and Rapla County.
