About Second Baptist Church, Amarillo, TX

Welcome to Second Baptist Church, a beacon of faith in the heart of Amarillo with a rich legacy dating back to 1906. Founded by 20 charter members, our journey began in a humble frame building on the corner of Fourth and Pierce, which quickly became a sacred haven for worship and fellowship. Over the years, our church has evolved to meet the needs of our growing congregation and community. In the late twenties, we briefly took on the name Pierce Street Baptist Church. However, with the completion of our current sanctuary, we proudly reclaimed our original identity as Second Baptist Church. Our commitment to growth and service has been unwavering. In 1985, we expanded with the addition of a multi-purpose Family Life Center, and in 1998, we transformed our sanctuary into the Charles Jones Auditorium and Education Center. As we embark on a new chapter in our church's history, we welcome Rev. Larry Davis as our new pastor. He brings a renewed sense of purpose and dedication to our congregation, tirelessly working to expand our outreach programs and strengthen our commitment to proclaiming the gospel to the greater Amarillo area and beyond. At Second Baptist Church, we believe in the transformative power of faith and community. Our doors are always open to all who seek spiritual growth, fellowship, and a deeper connection with God. Join us as we continue to carry forward the legacy of faith, service, and love that has defined us for over a century. LOVE. BUILD. REACH.
