About Simpson Street Free Press

Simpson Street Free Press is an organization built on ideas and innovation. We deploy a streamlined and efficient non-profit model. SSFP delivers high-impact, core subject academic instruction. We publish newspapers. Our writers are kids. Student reporters learn practical academic skills, which they can readily apply in the classroom. But much more is accomplished with every new stroke at their keyboard. Free Press writers are also authentic, local role models. Their influential and powerful voices resonate far beyond their south-side newsrooms. Our dedicated students reach thousands of young readers with positive messages of academic success and community engagement. This is our multi-mission service-delivery model at work. Young people learn practical skills in proven, hands on ways. Then they publish written work that inspires and fascinates their peers.
