About Smith & Hutton

Smith & Hutton is a boutique residential architecture and interior design firm offering custom design and master planning services with projects located in Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Boston, Manhattan, Palm Beach, and Sarasota. The firm specializes in luxury homes and waterfront estates, with architecture that celebrates the classical and aesthetic and derives inspiration from the landscape. At Smith & Hutton, it is our belief that the skillful orchestration of the collaborative disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, interior design, together with exceptional craftsmanship and construction, result in a cohesive and well-proportioned custom design. Whether the intent is to capture distant vistas, to enjoy morning light or evening sunsets, ocean breezes or offer privacy screening, the design is tailored to ensure that the architecture is suited to both the client and to the site. Contextual aesthetic, client program, scale and proportion help to inform the design, but it is the experience of the created space that is paramount. Our design process is consistent with this philosophy. As the landscape is foundational to the architecture, so too is the rapport of a talented team to the fluidity of a successful project. We are committed to our clients and offer personal attention to ensure their interests are thoughtfully considered at every phase of design and construction. The design ethos of Smith & Hutton relies upon integrity, creativity and trust. For more than a decade, Smith & Hutton has enjoyed enduring relationships not only with our clients, but also with exceptionally talented contractors, landscape architects and artisans. Multiple collaborations in a variety of geographic locations attest to the durability of those relationships and serve as a testament to the importance of sympathetic design vision and shared expectations of quality in design, materials and execution.
