About Snake Island Institute

The Snake Island Institute (SII) is an independent Ukrainian defense analytics and innovation center advancing long-term security cooperation between Ukraine and its western allies. We collaborate with active-duty service members, defense technologists, and international partners to transform battlefield experience and frontline innovation into strategic insight, industrial capability, and durable security alignment against the evolving threats of modern warfare. SII works with key defense stakeholders in Ukraine, Europe, and North America to strengthen capabilities, institutional knowledge, and long-term security infrastructure. Our work spans three core areas: •⁠ ⁠Analytics — Producing battlefield-grounded analysis based on operational data and direct engagement with military personnel to strengthen understanding of modern, high-intensity warfare and inform allied adaptation. •⁠ ⁠International Partnerships — Building strategic relationships with foreign decision-makers and defense planners by amplifying the voice of Ukrainian defenders through delegations, convenings, and engagement opportunities. •⁠ ⁠Defense Tech — Identifying frontline capability gaps and working with partner units, engineers, and manufacturers to find, test, and scale defense technology solutions shaped by real combat conditions.
