About Society of Sonic Flight Engineers

Mission: As Aggie engineers our goal is to push innovation to new heights and strive to learn through the trials of failure and success. In creating SSFE, we hope to create an organization with the intent to beat air speed records. We will accomplish this by determining a starting speed record for the organization and continue to surpass it in successive semesters through two semester-long blocks of student aircraft development. In doing this we intend to gain the experience of leadership and the knowledge of what it means to develop an aircraft in a team environment. Vision: As our name suggests SSFE aspires to design a vehicle that can achieve sonic speeds which will be achieved by the lessons from multiple iterations of aircraft. This goal as engineers will drive us to continue to explore and learn the knowledge of what it means to fly an aircraft with the intent of high-speed travel. Apart from this, our goal as an organization is to provide a common ground for engineers all backed by the same simple principle of speed and the morals of what it means to be an aggie. In the future, we see a vastly larger organization with expansions to compete with other universities and opportunities to push forward our members' education. We hope that our predecessors will continue with our aspirations, push SSFE to new heights, and build on the grounds we set upon them. Values: As Aggie engineers, our values are constituted by those given by the Aggie honor code. We expect our members to uphold a high code of ethics and personal dignity that both represents SSFE as well as TAMU. The honesty and integrity of our members will ensure that SSFE is successful and builds the character of the people involved in our organization. Additionally, SSFE values the safety of all of its members and the people it interacts with so as an organization there will be extensive precautions to institute everyone’s safety.
