About softfirm

Based in Los Angeles, California, we operate as a multidisciplinary design and strategy consultancy working with clients navigating a rapidly shifting cultural, environmental, and global landscape. Rather than adhering to a fixed model of practice, we advise through a flexible, heterarchical way of thinking that reflects how design, technology, and society now intersect. We work in the present, with clear eyes on where things are headed. Our perspective is shaped by a deep understanding of precedent, paired with a responsibility to consider the long term impact and legacy of the decisions being made today. Our advisory approach is grounded in two core beliefs. Thoughtful design meaningfully improves daily life, and the systems we design exist within larger, interconnected ecosystems of people, environments, and ideas. As convergence accelerates across disciplines, we help clients bridge traditional design intelligence with emerging tools, technologies, and modes of thinking. Our work spans scales and mediums, using a multimedia and systems based process to move beyond convention and deliver outcomes that feel both enduring and distinctly of their moment. For us, this is not a service we step into and out of. It is how we see the world, how we engage with it, and how we help others move it forward.
