About South Asian Institute of Crime and Justice Studies
The South Asian Institute of Crime and Justice Studies (SAICJS) is dedicated to reimagining justice through a South Asian lens. We bring together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to examine how crime, law, and governance intersect with issues of environment and human security across the region. Our research looks at how gender, climate related migration and crime shape justice and security in South Asia. Our work matters because dominant approaches to justice often overlook the lived realities of the Global Majority SAICJS seeks to bridge this gap by grounding knowledge in local experiences and histories. We aim to generate research that not only critiques existing frameworks but also proposes context-sensitive, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to justice reform. We engage through collaborations with universities, think tanks, civil society organisations, and public institutions. By hosting policy dialogues, training workshops and conferences, and open-access publications, we foster learning and exchange among scholars, students, and decision-makers. Our goal is to create a vibrant community committed to advancing justice that reflects the complexities of South Asia and the possibilities for its transformation
