About South Australian Youth Forum

18-year-old, Amber Brock-Fabel, founded the South Australian Youth Forum in 2021 and the inaugural program was run in 2022. The South Australian Youth Forum provides a platform created by young people for young people, between the ages of 14 to 18, to engage, discuss and debate issues of relevance that directly affect them. By meeting at least once a month for the duration of a year, the delegates are provided with an opportunity to input their opinion and views on pre-determined topics. The discussions are minuted, surveys are released and models of engagement are formulated. All of this data is collated in the South Australian Youth Forum Annual Report, which gets presented to relevant agencies and parliamentarians at the end of the year. The 2022 Report has been presented to: - Ministers for Human Services, Women, Child Protection, Domestic Violence Prevention, Business and Commerce, Transport and Arts, Education - Shadow Minister for Youth and Communities - 15 State Members of Parliament - 6 Federal Members of Parliament - 17 Local Councils - 5 Academics from Universities across Australia - Local Government Association of Youth Development - Southern Youth Development Network - Commissioner for Young People and Children - Youth Affairs Council of South Australia - Green Adelaide Moving forward, and on the back of the success of the 2022 South Australian Youth Forum, I have onboarded an additional 15 diverse and dynamic young people for our 2023 cohort, whilst continuing to facilitate and manage the 2022 Forum Members who have progressed to the Executive Team and will mentor the 2023 youth members.
