About Spaceflight Records

Spaceflight Records is an Austin nonprofit creating a sustainable music ecosystem through a mission-driven record label model. Our work centers on physical releases, intentional distribution, and disciplined release management. Physical records remain one of the few mechanisms capable of generating meaningful per-unit revenue for independent musicians. When structured responsibly, they provide economic stability, cultural weight, and long-term value. As a nonprofit organization, our focus is ecosystem health rather than asset accumulation. This structure allows us to reinvest in infrastructure and artist support, operate with a long-term perspective, and prioritize durability over short-term gain. Spaceflight collaborates with musicians across career stages, from emerging voices to respected, established artists. While each stage requires a tailored approach, our principles remain consistent: protect the art, reinforce the artist’s position, and structure releases to serve both cultural and economic purposes.
