About Sportellino

Sportellino is a non-profit digital assistant designed to help foreigners in Italy navigate the country’s complex bureaucracy. Built on AI and accessible directly via WhatsApp and Telegram, it provides reliable, multilingual, and easy-to-understand guidance on essential topics such as residence permits, asylum procedures, healthcare, social services, and integration opportunities. The project was founded in Rome by Viktor Seibert during his Master’s studies in Migration and Development at Sapienza University. The idea emerged from the observation that migrants and asylum seekers face not only language and cultural barriers but also a lack of accessible and trustworthy information about their rights and obligations. Even for native Italians, bureaucracy can be confusing; for foreigners, it often becomes a serious obstacle to integration and independence. Sportellino addresses this challenge by offering: • Anonymous access: No registration, no data collection. • Low-barrier communication: Available on familiar messaging apps. • Multilingual support: Content is continuously expanded and verified. • Practical empowerment: Clear, step-by-step explanations of procedures. The platform reduces misinformation, eases the workload on overburdened help desks, and empowers migrants to take control of their legal and social pathways. Developed together with migration experts, social workers, and volunteers, Sportellino is continuously improved through user feedback and professional verification of its knowledge base. Looking forward, the project aims to expand its features with voice interaction, offline availability, and broader coverage of bureaucratic processes across Europe, ensuring that more people can access their rights and fulfill their duties with confidence.
