About St Andrew's Prep Eastbourne

St Andrew’s Prep, Eastbourne is a thriving, award-winning independent day and boarding school for children from nursery to 13 years. Founded in 1877 and home to around 280 pupils, the school is set in spectacular Sussex surroundings at the foot of the South Downs, just a five-minute walk from the sea. Our dedicated staff prepare pupils for a fast-changing, high-tech world, developing lifelong learning and problem-solving skills alongside leadership and teamwork. Most importantly, they equip every child with the values needed to become thoughtful, responsible citizens. St Andrew’s Prep inspires imagination, creativity and curiosity while nurturing self-discipline, resilience, honesty, kindness and compassion. The St Andrew’s Prep spirit allows pupils to flourish in an environment defined by excellence, fulfilment, respect and integrity. Academic ambition, strong pastoral care and rich co-curricular opportunities ensure every child is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their personal best. We teach pupils to form opinions confidently, substantiate ideas, self-reflect with balance, listen and value differing perspectives, think critically and engage with the wider community. Every child participates fully — every pupil represents the school in sport, performs in drama, takes part in music and most play at least one instrument. Many reach Grade 8 in music, and St Andrew’s Prep has achieved numerous county and national sporting titles. “Pupils are articulate, communicate their learning well and feel empowered to ask questions and engage in discussions.” Independent Schools Inspectorate, December 2024
