About St.Thomas Charitable and Educational Trust (STCET)

St. Thomas Charitable and Educational Trust (STCET) works towards the social development of underprivileged communities. Established in 1996, majority of our board consist women. We began our by eliminating poverty prevailing among women, youth, Children and farmers in rural areas of Erode and Madurai district. Our aim is to sustain the livelihood of an individual through capacity building, vocational training, and skill development training. Empowering women has been an important objective of our organization, so we formed SHGs to cluster women and arctician cluster from economically weaker sections and provide credit linkages and training to establish their business. As an additional support for women, a Family Counselling Centre (FCC) has been opened to help them deal with issues in families. Our FCC also acts as a moral support to anybody who is in need of guidance and counselling. Apart from empowering women, our focus is also towards rescuing and rehabilitating child labours and enrols them into schools through National Child Labour Programme. We impart both formal and non-formal education to help children utilize their potential for their growth and development. STCET's interventions extend to improving environment, and increasing awareness among farmers on latest agricultural techniques. Through all our programmes, we have ensured to improve the ability of an individual so that they can play an effective part in leading their community towards development.
