Founded under the visionary leadership of Dr. Mario E. Ramirez in 1975, Starr County Memorial Hospital has been a cornerstone of health care in Starr County, Texas. Established by the 62nd Texas Legislature, SCMH is a licensed 48-bed acute-care medical center accredited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In addition to our main hospital services, SCMH operates two Rural Health Clinics—the Roma Family Clinic and the Rural Health Clinic adjacent to the hospital—expanding access to vital health care for our community.
