About Steel Joist Institute
The Steel Joist Institute (SJI), a nonprofit organization of active joist manufacturers, was founded in 1928 to address the lack of uniform joist standards within the industry. Today, SJI continues to maintain the standards for steel joist construction as an ANSI-approved Standards Developing Organization. In addition, SJI provides resources, including publications, live and recorded webinars, and design tools to assist structural engineers or other AEC professionals with the utilization of steel joists and joist girders.
