About STEM Like a Girl

STEM Like a Girl is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and exciting girls to develop an interest and confidence in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) through fun hands-on activities, parent engagement, and positive female mentors. We believe all girls can become scientists and engineers when given the right tools early on to develop their own STEM identity. Our affordable, research-backed approach to STEM education brings a unique perspective to our program. Our Parent-Daughter Workshops are designed to provide an introduction to STEM activities for 3rd-5th grade girls and their parents (or other adult caregiver) in the Portland Metro area.  Many other STEM-based programs are costly, require a significant time commitment, or are targeted towards families already interested in science and engineering.  We aim to make STEM activities available to ALL GIRLS and their families, in particular those who don't have access to other programs.  Our half-day workshops are a great low-cost introduction to STEM for families that might not otherwise consider science and engineering programs for their daughters.  We hope to ignite a spark in both girls and parents to continue STEM activities at home and beyond. Please check out our website to learn more about our program and upcoming Parent-Daughter STEM Workshops serving the Portland Metro area. Please email us at [email protected] if you are interested in partnerships, collaborations, or other opportunities to get involved and support STEM Like a Girl.
