De Stichting Museum 1940-1945 is in 1986 opgericht met het doel het instand houden van een Museum betrekking hebbende op de gebeurtenissen in de Oorlogsdagen periode 1940-1945 in het bijzonder waar dit betreft de regio Dordrecht. Een grote collectie wapens, uniformen en gebruiksartikelen uit de Oorlogsdagen vormt de basis om dit aanschouwelijk te kunnen presenteren aan de bezoeker. Ook wordt een overzicht gegeven van het ontstaan en verloop van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Daarnaast is een uitgebreide verzameling boeken en naslagwerken aanwezig, alsmede een uitgebreide collectie beeldmateriaal. Dit is in een kleine filmzaal te bekijken, op verzoek.
