About Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve

Tamerlaine Sanctuary & Preserve is a refuge for farmed animals and a center for compassionate change. Since 2013, we have provided lifelong rehabilitation and exceptional care for animals who have been abused, neglected, or discarded—offering them not just safety, but the opportunity to heal and thrive. Situated on a historic 336-acre property dating back to 1774, Tamerlaine is home to forests, wetlands, ponds, and open fields that support both our rescued residents and native wildlife. Today, more than 250 animals live here, each with a story that inspires connection, empathy, and awareness. We welcome thousands of visitors each year to experience the sanctuary firsthand—creating meaningful opportunities to learn, reflect, and take part in building a more compassionate future. Our work extends beyond rescue. Through humane education programs, environmental stewardship, and advocacy, we aim to shift how people think about animals, the land, and our shared responsibility to both. Our mission is rooted in four pillars: Caring — Providing lifelong sanctuary for abused and neglected farmed animals Educating — Inspiring ethical awareness around animal protection and the environment Preserving — Protecting and stewarding land for native wildlife and ecosystems Advocating — Advancing a more compassionate and sustainable world
