About Terra Madre

Terra Madre supports farmers in their transition to regenerative agroforestry by measuring impact, rewarding beneficial outcomes and providing technical advice. Our work is grounded in the belief that regenerative agriculture is key to revitalizing agroecosystems, making farms more profitable and resilient. Scaling regenerative agriculture to have a real impact on agricultural landscapes and farmer livelihoods requires the collaboration of actors along the entire supply chain. Terra Madre enables this shared mission, either within the value-chain through insetting projects where agrifood companies, financial institutions and investors provide farmers incentives to meet their ESG goals, or by selling carbon credits to companies that want to offset their emissions by supporting regenerative farming. We focus on Southern European agroforestry systems because of their enormous potential to regenerate soils, restore water cycles, nurture biodiversity and sequester carbon in an area ravaged by climate change and generations of extractive farming.
