About Texas Prostate Seed Institute

Our mission is simple and crystal clear — To cure prostate cancer while minimizing side effects, downtime, and disruption to busy lives. Back in 2015, we noticed a growing number of men seeking second opinions — men trying to find the most effective way to cure their prostate cancer while avoiding side effects like urinary leakage, erectile dysfunction, and urgency. That need inspired the creation of the Texas Prostate Seed Institute, powered by Texas Oncology and its incredible team and mission. We set out to expand access to a highly curative, minimally invasive treatment: prostate brachytherapy (seed implant therapy). Through our educational website and training programs, we’ve helped bring this treatment to more men — hosting trainings for radiation oncologists from UT Southwestern, MD Anderson, UPenn, and UPMC to learn and share best practices of adaptive interoperative brachytherapy. Like many others, we faced setbacks during COVID and then focused on revitalizing our external beam program and modernizing our clinic. But through it all, our second opinion program has continued to grow — attracting patients from across the country. Now, it’s time to reinvigorate this unique and powerful prostate brachytherapy program — one of the busiest in the Southwest. With modern advances, dose escalation, and patients who often desire to avoid androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), we’re offering men highly curative treatment options while minimizing the effects of hormone therapy and preserving quality of life.
