About Texas Whiskey Association

The Texas Whiskey Association (TXWA) was formed by a trailblazing group of whiskey makers who share a single purpose: to define, promote and protect authentic Texas whiskey. We believe that whiskey bearing the name “Texas” should meet the highest standards of quality, authenticity and transparency. Our member distilleries are committed to the principle of “grain‑to‑glass” production – meaning every step, from mashing and fermenting to distilling, aging and bottling, takes place within the boundaries of the Lone Star State. TXWA created the Certified Texas Whiskey seal, a badge that signals to consumers that the spirit in their glass was truly made in Texas. When you see the shield, you know your whiskey has met our rigorous internal certification process and exemplifies the bold character and craftsmanship for which Texas is known. Beyond certification, our association educates consumers about what Texas whiskey is and is not, encourages truth and transparency in labeling, advocates for regulatory standards and supports distilleries of all sizes. Through initiatives such as the Texas Whiskey Trail, we connect enthusiasts with the people and places that define our state’s burgeoning whiskey culture. Together we aim to build worldwide appreciation, respect and demand for authentic Texas whiskey while fostering collaboration among producers and elevating the entire industry.
