About THE AGE OF AFRICA

The Age Of Africa Annual Symposium at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy is a leading forum for critical analysis and strategic deliberation, dedicated to examining Africa’s central role in shaping the twenty-first century. With demographic expansion, rapid urbanization, technological frontiers, cultural innovation, and the strategic weight of natural resources, the continent stands as a decisive axis of global transformation. The 2026 edition will convene a rich, in-person gathering over two days of panels, roundtables, and fireside discussions with distinguished voices from government, industry, and academia. Sessions will navigate Africa’s ascendancy as a structural reality, reshaping the architecture of international life and compelling states, markets, and institutions worldwide to recalibrate in an era informed by the continent. The experience is designed to be immersive and generative: delegates move from high-level plenary debates to intimate roundtables, engage directly with thought leaders and practitioners, and encounter the ideas, networks, and opportunities that define Africa’s place in global affairs. Beyond formal sessions, the symposium cultivates an atmosphere of exchange and discovery, where conversations continue in receptions, informal gatherings, and curated networking spaces. Presented by the Canadian Centre for African Affairs and Policy Research, and in partnership with the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto, the Symposium is anchored at one of the world’s leading centres of interdisciplinary research and global engagement. Founded in 2010, the Munk School is dedicated to pioneering ideas and advancing scholarship that address the most pressing challenges confronting the global community.
