About The Armah Institute of Emotional Justice
The Armah Institute of Emotional Justice (The AIEJ) is a global institution that builds emotional infrastructure shaped by place, history, and power. We work through interconnected projects, capacity training, and thought leadership that form a living global pipeline—engaged by academia, global philanthropy, international human rights organizations, and social justice movements across regions and histories. Through this work, The AIEJ transforms how worlds are understood and governed, reshapes leadership practice, and reorients organizational culture toward emotional accountability and collective responsibility, closing the gap between policy and practice. We advance racial healing as a matter of civic education, public health, and governance, working within the systems through which inequality is continually reproduced. Our premise is clear: emotional life constitutes the worlds of governance, institutions, and economies. Yet it remains largely unnamed and unacknowledged as structural and racial. Emotional norms organize policy and power—determining who is protected, who is punished, and who is believed. Emotional Justice names this terrain and works within it at scale. Storytelling is central to our approach. At The AIEJ, stories are systems. They shape pipelines to power, normalize harm, and authorize inequality. We engage storytelling as emotional infrastructure—examining inherited narratives, redesigning their logics, and rebuilding the conditions through which collective life is organized. The AIEJ approaches racial healing at the institutional and systemic level, grounded in historical context and interconnected responsibility, where individual leadership is inseparable from collective transformation. We build emotional architecture with those shaping culture, knowledge, and power.
