About The Big Picture Bureau
The Big Picture Bureau provides communications and digital media consulting services, primarily for non-profits, grassroots organizations, and UN agencies. With over a decade of experience across development communication, storytelling, and visual media, we offer strategic support to teams working on the frontlines of change. From writing communication strategies and producing human interest stories, to designing reports, managing social media, and training teams in photography and video, our work is grounded in empathy, ethics, and effectiveness. As many teams and organisations face restructuring and increased workloads following the wake of recent events and funding cuts in the humanitarian sphere, there’s a growing need for internal capacity building. We offer tailored, remote trainings in storytelling - covering everything from story types and narrative structure to interview techniques, writing styles, ethics and cultural sensitivity, and identifying compelling angles. These trainings also extend to photography and videography, including topics like composition, lighting, editing, branding, scripting, audio, and creating cohesive story essays. In addition to training, we create content production, from full video and photo packages to managing social media platforms and editorial calendars, designing publications and graphics (digital and print), applying branding, overseeing and delivering on donor and partnerships visibility and communication requirements, coordinating communications projects/programs/events, and serving as a photo editor or digital asset manager.
