About The Brooking – breathing life into architecture

The Brooking houses the largest and most comprehensive collection of British architectural detail in the world. Our mission is to educate, preserve, and inspire by unlocking the stories embedded in our built environment. Each object in our collection—from windows and doors to staircases and mouldings—provides a lens through which to understand Britain’s social history, technology, style, design, and craftsmanship. Whether you are a heritage professional, educator, designer, student, or simply someone who finds wonder in the everyday, The Brooking invites you to explore, learn, and be inspired.
