About The Catholic Initiative

The Catholic Initiative is a groundbreaking, Vatican-approved funding model that faithfully restores Catholic churches and schools across the U.S., and reenergizes Catholic communities, fostering vibrant parishes where faith, people, and culture thrive together. The Catholic Initiative’s innovative approach shifts the ownership of church buildings and campuses to a newly formed nonprofit created solely for the purpose and then ensures that parish communities retain exclusive and permanent rights to use the property as a Catholic church. The model also creates a dedicated endowment to guarantee a reliable, steady income stream to support parishes and schools long into the future. The Catholic Initiative is supported by The Pulte Family Charitable Foundation, founded by William J. Pulte: master home-builder, quiet philanthropist, and devout Catholic. Through restoring these vital spaces and creating endowments, the Initiative carries forward Bill’s legacy of generosity, using resources to sustain and strengthen Catholic institutions for future generations.
