About The Centre for Theology and Community
CTC’s work grows out of churches in east London – and their experience of broad-based community organising in the Citizens UK alliance. These churches loved the fact that community organising allowed them to engage in a faith-filled form of social action – putting “roots down” even more deeply in their own faith at the same as taking “walls down” to grow in solidarity, trust and knowledge of people of other religions and beliefs. They also saw that community organising was helping their congregations to identify and develop new leaders, especially from those the dominant culture tends to overlook and exclude – and that as these new leaders developed, churches were growing in number, depth and impact. Our work at CTC equips congregations to engage in the wider Citizens UK alliance in a distinctive, faith-filled way.
