About The Chavis Chronicles

THE CHAVIS CHRONICLES is a thought-provoking half-hour talk show featuring interviews with influential people from the worlds of politics, medicine, science, education, activism, entertainment and the media. The program goes beyond the headlines to explore important content and diverse conversations with award-winning journalist, civil rights icon, and consummate intellectual influencer Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr. The series offers profound insights on matters that impact the public, and provides a unique perspective from a renowned living civil rights legend. Produced by award winning producer Clara Wilkerson of CRW Worldwide, THE CHAVIS CHRONICLES is presented and distributed nationally by American Public Television (APT). Reverend Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr. is a global business leader, educator, civil rights leader, NAACP Life Member, syndicated columnist and author. Dr. Chavis began his career in 1963 as a statewide youth coordinator in NC for the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). Dr. Chavis received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina. He also earned a Masters of Divinity, M.Div., from Duke University while serving an unjust 34-year prison sentence as a member of the Wilmington 10 — who Amnesty International declared political prisoners, a case that garnered international attention and was pardoned 40 years later.
