About The Downing Network Pty Ltd

The hardest leadership appointments are rarely the ones with the biggest job titles. They're the ones where the margin for error is low, the operating environment is complex, and the right candidate isn't actively looking. The Downing Network is a boutique retained executive search firm working across mining and resources, infrastructure, defence, and diversified industrials in Australia, New Zealand, and the Americas, with over 50 years' experience. We partner with boards, CEOs, and senior leadership teams on appointments where getting it right genuinely matters. CEO, COO, CFO, General Manager, Project Director, and board-level roles across the full project and asset lifecycle. We also work deeper into organisations when the need is there. Project Managers, Senior Project Engineers, Estimating Managers, and other critical hires where finding the right person requires real sector knowledge and a network built over decades, not a database search. Our consultants bring hands-on sector experience and direct access to talent that rarely surfaces through conventional search. Every assignment is led by a senior consultant from brief to placement. No handoffs, no volume desks, no shortcuts. We work with owner-operators, major contractors, project developers, private equity-backed businesses, and listed companies at critical points in their growth or transition. What we've built over the years is a community of people who know each other, trust each other, and occasionally help each other. If you're navigating an important appointment, or you're a senior professional thinking about what's next, we'd welcome you into that conversation.
