About The First Word

We’re here to turn blah into brilliant. We’ll give you the hands-on help you need to ditch corporate speak. And we’ll help you change your organisation for good with the power of words. Who we are We’re a close-knit team of expert copywriters, project managers and trainers. We help our clients with all kinds of business writing from tone of voice, marketing and internal comms to web writing, customer service and social media. We have lots of experience in regulated industries like finance and utilities, where we help our clients to explain complex messages clearly, build trust and treat customers fairly. Our clients include Allianz, the British Library, HMRC, EE, NFU Mutual and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), among others. Where we work We’re based in London and Manchester, but our team works wherever our clients need us in the UK, Europe and beyond.
