About The Friends School

The Friends School, Trivandrum’s Premier Experiential Learning School. With 38+ years of experience in the early learning and Primary education field, The Friends School (earlier known as Friends Playschool and Kindergarten) is Trivandrum’s Premier Experiential learning school. We follow a Project based- game based learning approach that is child centric, child-led and enquiry driven, making learning fun, engaging and highly effective thereby enhancing the retention, and application of learning in the future world. The Friends School currently has 3 campuses, with Branch 1 at YMR Jn, Nanthancode, Branch 2 at Venpalavattom (KIMS- Lulu Mall Road) and Branch 3 at Menamkulam, Kazkakuttom. In 2022 the school launched its first batch of Grade 1 as a full experiential learning program, the first in Trivandrum. The current senior batch is in Std IV, and we are growing organically each year. The vision of the school is to grow into India's most unique K-12 school, with our 1st batch of 12th Grade students to graduate in the year 2034. Our Learning Philosophy At The Friends School, learning goes beyond textbooks — it’s a journey of discovery, creativity, and joy. Our curriculum blends the best of Indian, Finnish, and Japanese education systems, rooted in Montessori, Waldorf, and Gurukulam philosophies. We nurture 21st-century skills through our three Centers of Excellence — The Future Lab, The Creative Hub, and The Sports Academy. We follow the VARK model (Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, Kinesthetic) to meet diverse learning styles and ensure every child learns their way. Each topic is taught across three learning levels — Remedial, Grade, and Advanced, and with only less than 20 students in a class learning is truly personalised. We replace rote tests with continuous assessments, projects, discussions, and presentations.
