About The Health Agency

The Health Agency is a charity in Wester Hailes that supports people living in some of Southwest Edinburgh's most deprived communities, so they can lead longer, healthier, more fulfilling lives. Our purpose is to tackle the effects of deep-rooted poverty and health inequality experienced by our community. We provide information, advice and practical support through a range of services that empower local people to act - improving their physical. mental, and social wellbeing, while strengthening the community. Services include: Tasting Change which offers affordable, nutritious food through our Pantry and Community Lunch. Practical workshops build the skills and confidence to plan and prepare healthy meals at home. It helps families stay nourished, resilient and well. Positive Moves helps people get physically active and make healthier lifestyle choices to improve their health and wellbeing. Mental Wellbeing Service provides person-centred support through Counselling, CBT and Peer Support for people affected by mental health issues. By providing a safe place to be heard, and practical tools to develop coping skills that build confidence and resilience, so people can recover and thrive. Westerhaven provides practical and emotional support for people and their families affected by cancer and long-term conditions. Access to 1-2-1 experts, counselling, benefits advice, relaxation therapies and peer support. Helping people manage their health, reduce stress, feel less alone and improve the quality of their life. Groups and Peer Support bring people together to share advice, friendship, skills and mutual support. Our groups build connection to reduce isolation and loneliness, so people feel part of their community. Ultimately our work contributes to stronger individual resilience, improved mental wellbeing, healthier lifestyle choices, reduced isolation, and better quality of life - enabling people to lead longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.
