A true roof-to-table concept, 1856’s seasonally inspired menus are shaped by produce grown in the rooftop garden above the Culinary Science Center. Led by Chef in Residence Joël Antunes and executed by our culinary team alongside students, the dining experience reflects the seamless blend of academic excellence and world-class cuisine. Above it all, Walt’s on the Roof offers a lush rooftop lounge and sky garden with sweeping views of Auburn University’s iconic Samford Hall. The garden supplies organic produce to 1856, supports culinary instruction, and is cultivated in collaboration with Auburn University’s Horticulture Department — reinforcing our fully integrated learning ecosystem.
