About The Leo Marchutz School of Painting & Drawing

The Leo Marchutz School of Painting & Drawing is a cultural and educational center in Aix-en-Provence, France that aims to preserve, nurture, and expand the legacy of the school and bring impactful programming opportunities to our international community. Founded in 1972, the Leo Marchutz School has grown through several iterations. In its 50th year, we are now reimagining the school’s future with the goal of becoming a cultural and educational center in Aix-en-Provence that is a valuable resource in the larger world and a responsible member of the “patrimoine” of Aix-en-Provence that gives back to the local community of which it is a part. We plan to preserve and continue the legacy of Leo Marchutz’s educational philosophy and artistic movement through a combination of exhibitions, educational programming, workshops, residencies, research projects, and more. We gather with renewed energy at a unique moment in our collective history and invite our community of artists, friends, and supporters to join us on this path forward for this beloved institution.
