About The Liz McGrath Collection

A warm welcome to The Liz McGrath Collection, comprising The Cellars-Hohenort, The Marine, and The Plettenberg - three iconic hotels that exemplify South African hospitality. Each of these 5-star hotels boasts a unique location, mesmerising history, splendid design, and amenities and services that are second to none. The Collection stands for three magnificent properties in exceptional locations. The Cellars-Hohenort in Cape Town’s leafy Constantia Valley is home to the award-winning Greenhouse, which, thanks to its innovative approach to fine dining, is consistently being ranked as one of South Africa’s top restaurants. The Marine in Hermanus is one of South Africa’s most spectacular seaside hotels, offering the perfect whale watching vantage point – often directly from the comfort of the sea view bedrooms. Completing the triumvirate, The Plettenberg, situated on a rocky headland in Plettenberg Bay, presents the ultimate Garden Route destination. What they all share is the inimitable style of their iconic creator, the late Liz McGrath. A self-taught, natural hotelier, the amazing ‘Mrs M’, as her staff fondly liked to call her, built her collection based on her great passions – décor, food and gardening. As a result, her properties feature individually designed, sophisticated interiors, the most luxurious accommodations, award-winning gardens and world-class cuisine – pillars of hospitality that are sure to appeal to guests from all walks of life, whether they visit the hotels for a romantic getaway, family vacation, wedding, honeymoon or conference. Liz McGrath was regularly heard saying she was only as good as her team. Her team spirit and positive can-do attitude live on today – The Collection is proud to celebrate a culture of impeccable hospitality, extending an authentic and warm welcome to all who cross its threshold, and creating ‘a world away from the ordinary’.
