About The Mama Project South Africa

The Mama Project works with women from Cape Town townships in South Africa, and Boston, MA, inclusive of women from other nationalities and under-resourced communities, to create opportunities for women to meet, make art, share culture, develop relationships, and build confidence around what it means to be a woman and a mother so women can thrive. The Mama Project creates inter-cultural, inter-racial, inter-generational artistic projects for women. Each project explores themes and questions that unite us as women and human beings. Using these themes and questions, we collaborate to create art, tell our stories, and express our cultures. This work culminates in exhibits, performances, workshops, and other public events for our families, communities, and partners. The Mama Project helps women build confidence, communities build trust, and people from different backgrounds develop understanding and new relationships. In a broken world, The Mama Project allows women from different backgrounds to connect, find common ground, heal, and create something meaningful together.
