About The Polis Project, Inc

The Polis Project is a New York-based media company and research organization dedicated to documenting state violence, authoritarianism, and communities in resistance. We work at the intersection of journalism, research, and visual storytelling to amplify critical voices and uncover the systemic injustices shaping our world. Rooted in a commitment to justice, dignity, and truth, our work includes in-depth investigative reporting, oral histories, visual documentation, and cultural critique. Our projects—such as the Demolitions Project, the Disappearances Project, and Profiles of Dissent—offer alternative narratives and insights into issues that mainstream media often overlooks. We produce multimedia content, podcasts, and public events that center the lived experiences of marginalized communities while challenging dominant power structures. With a team of dedicated editors, writers, and researchers, we remain an independent, ad-free platform powered by community support. Our vision is to build institutions of resistance that inform, empower, and inspire action. Connect with us to collaborate, support our work, and reimagine what resistance looks like in today’s world.
